An update has emerged on WWE COVID-19 protocols, following a number of talents and staff testing positive ahead of WWE Day 1.
As per Fightful, WWE told Performance Center talent that they’re no longer requiring the twice-weekly COVID-19 testing that was previously mandatory. this report has since been confirmed by Dave Meltzer in a Wrestling Observer Daily Update.
Meltzer also revealed that it is believed – however not confirmed – that WWE is following CDC recommendations, and shortening quarantine time from 10 to 5 days. This would mean that stars who tested positive last week would be able to work WWE Day 1, providing they can produce negative tests on two consecutive days.
Masks are now mandatory at all times backstage, with fines to be imposed on anybody not complying. Booster vaccines have been recommended, however there reportedly isn’t a mandate for them yet, as per the report.
On Monday (December 27), WrestleVotes reported that WWE is still hopeful that no changes will have to be made to the line-up for Saturday’s WWE Day 1 pay-per-view.
We will provide additional updates on the situation as they become available.
