Former WWE star Taya Valkyrie, or Franky Monet as she was known during her brief spell with Vince McMahon’s company, has admitted she would definitely be interested in joining AEW if the opportunity arose.
Valkyrie was one of a number of WWE stars released by the company in November 2021, having only signed in February of the same year.
Her non-compete clause has expired, and she is therefore able to wrestle for any promotion that wants to book her.
Speaking during a virtual signing, Valkyrie revealed she would be open to a move to AEW. She said:
“Of course I would go to AEW. I mean, they are doing something different, a lot of my peers and my best friends, my brothers [Rey] Fenix and Pentagon are over there so why not? So we’ll see what happens.”
She also spoke about her brief time in NXT, which she feels wasn’t blessed with as many opportunities as she would have wanted.
“It was great [being in NXT] but I wish that I had gotten more of an opportunity to show what I can do, I’ll be honest. I didn’t feel like I was given the opportunity I needed and I don’t even think I scratched the surface of what you all know. With that said, I did gain a lot of knowledge. I learned a lot about myself and I am super excited to bring all of that and remind all of you about who I am starting next week.”
Valkyrie will be wrestling her first match since being released by WWE later this week on January 15. It will be in Canton, Georgia at a Vicky Dice event called Outlandish Paradise.
