Tony Khan has provided an update on the working relationship between AEW and NJPW, teasing more ‘forbidden door’ talent exchanges.
A number of NJPW names have appeared for AEW since February 2021, including Jay White, who NJPW has indicated will feature on AEW TV for at least the next few weeks.
Speaking with Sporting News, Khan stated that fans can look forward to more performers travel ‘both ways’ through the forbidden door.
Khan noted:
“Jay White came through the Forbidden Door via our great relationship with New Japan Pro Wrestling. New Japan and AEW have put on some great matches together, with great wrestlers from AEW going there. Jon Moxley was the IWGP United States champion before losing the belt to Lance Archer.
“We’ve seen great wrestlers from New Japan come into AEW, like Minor Suzuki, Tomohiro Ishii, Jay White and KENTA. I think we can look forward to seeing more wrestlers both ways through the Forbidden Door.”
Jay White has made notable appearances for several promotions this month, winning his Rampage debut match against Trent Beretta, defeating a recently released WWE star during the NJPW STRONG Rivals taping, and kicking members out of Bullet Club at IMPACT No Surrender.
Kenny Omega has revealed that he is interested in a rematch with White, when he eventually returns to the ring.
