Vince McMahon’s reaction to his WrestleMania 38 match with Pat McAfee, and his botched Stunner, has been revealed.
After Pat McAfee defeated Austin Theory, McMahon made an impromptu in-ring return, besting the SmackDown announcer in less than four minutes.
Stone Cold Steve Austin then made his way down to the ring to hit McMahon, Theory and McAfee with Stunners, with McMahon awkwardly stumbling while taking the iconic move.
Per Fightful Select (subscription required), there were plenty of laughs about the segment from Vince McMahon and his team in the days following the event.
The report noted that McMahon knew it wasn’t the best sell, but was of the mindset that “as long as people were laughing and entertained, it’s okay.”
There was also a production botch during the segment, with Theory’s music playing instead of Stone Cold’s causing McMahon to react early to the Texas Rattlesnake’s appearance. Fightful noted that McMahon’s on-screen reaction led to lots of laughs backstage.
McMahon’s WrestleMania 38 win means that the WWE Chairman is one of a handful of stars with a 100% win record for the year so far. Stay up to date with WWE win/loss records for 2022 using our tracker at this link.
