Tony Khan has provided some interesting clarification on the Joker entrants slated to wrestle in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament on tonight’s AEW Dynamite.
There will be two mystery opponents competing on Dynamite, with Samoa Joe slated to face a ‘Joker’ in his quarter-final match, and Baker slated to face another Joker in her respective tournament match.
On Busted Open Radio, Tony Khan confirmed that the Jokers will be debuts, indicating that they’re not stars currently on the AEW roster. Khan also referred to the debuting names as ‘fun arrivals’.
This would rule out Maki Itoh as a potential Joker, following speculation that she’s set to make an imminent AEW return. It is worth noting that Khan has misspoke about a debut before, previously admitting that Jay White’s AEW arrival was a last minute decision after he accidentally promised fans a ‘forbidden door’ debut.
Other tournament matches slated for tonight’s show include the Kyle O’Reilly vs Rey Fenix quarterfinal, and the Adam Cole vs Jeff Hardy semifinal.
