The NXT Women’s Championship was on the line at NXT Heatwave as Mandy Rose defended her title against Zoey Stark.
After some attempts to interfere from Mandy’s Toxic Attraction stablemates Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne getting thwarted by Stark’s upcoming main roster Women’s Tag Team tournament partner, Nikkita Lyons, it returned to a one on one battle.
After using Stark’s own knee brace as a weapon against her, Mandy Rose was able to land a giant flying knee and make the pin.
Mandy Rose successfully retained her NXT Women’s Championship on tonight’s special edition of NXT 2.0, NXT Heatwave.
The opening match on NXT Heatwave was for the North American Championship and saw Giovanni Vinci battling it out with Carmelo Hayes.
Also yet to come, Bron Breakker defending his NXT Championship against J.D. McDonagh.
Elsewhere in the episode, there was an NXT UK invasion during a tense segment featuring Diamond Mind and Paul Heyman loaned his iconic voice for the opening video package and an NXT star was revealed to be banished from the brand.
If you’re in the UK but didn’t manage to get tickets to Clash at the Castle on September 3, WrestleTalk is hosting a watch party at The Joiner on Worship in Shoreditch, London, and we’d love for you to join us! Click here for more details.
