Wrestling fans are amused by the smallest little things, and this Monday’s episode of WWE Raw was a reflection of that.
The main event saw Edge take on Dominik Mysterio in a grudge match from Dominik’s turn back at Clash at the Castle. The match ended in a disqualification when Damian Priest and Finn Balor of the Judgment Day came to the ring and assaulted Edge, with Balor hitting a Coup De Grace on his leg with a steel chair.
However, what was it that Twitter was talking about after the show? The brutal assault of a beloved WWE Hall of Famer? Dominik’s evil change in attitude? Neither of those things of course, but rather the fact that Finn Balor wore a purple bandana.
WWE Raw stars Kevin Owens and Johnny Gargano were guests on this week’s episode of WWE The Bump, where they discussed the Judgment Day’s attack on Edge, and most notably Balor’s fashion choice.
Gargano and Owens compared the look to that of Michael Scott’s ‘Prison Mike’ look from The Office, with Owens claiming that the bandana makes Balor more vicious than normal.
They said:
Kevin Owens: I think what we just saw from Monday was a whole new level of dominance. Also, I think what spurred it on was, Finn has this bandana when he came to the ring, the purple banana. Took him to a whole new level, and I think the viciousness.
Johnny Gargano: Like a Prison Mike kind of scenario.
Owens: Yeah, very Michael Scott. But man, clearly when Finn’s got that bandana on, you don’t want any part of him.
Gargano then posed an interesting question, asking whether Owens would rather face Finn Balor as the Demon, or ‘Bandana Finn’.
They said:
Gargano: Wait a minute, okay, this is an interesting debate here now. Do you think Finn is more powerful as ‘The Demon’ or as ‘Bandana Finn’? More vicious with the bandana, scarier as the demon. Which one do you not wanna cross paths with? Like you’re walking down the street, dark alley, middle of the night, you see ‘The Demon’ or you see Finn with a bandana. Who do you [feel] like, ‘I don’t wanna deal with this?’
Owens: I think I’d take my chances with ‘The Demon.’ If the paint comes off, he’s still ‘The Demon.’ It’s not reliant on the paint. But the bandana just takes him to a whole other level. Look at what they did.
Gargano: I’ve never seen something like that before in my life.
WWE has announced an injury to Edge following the attack, claiming he suffered an MCL sprain from the assault.
