Gunther has expressed confusion over an upcoming match stipulation; and his opponent is more than happy to help clarify things for him.
Gunther, along with fellow Imperium members Ludwig Kaiser & Giovanni Vinci, will face the Brawling Brutes team of Sheamus, Ridge Holland & Butch in a “Good Old Fashioned Donnybrook Match” at WWE Extreme Rules on October 8 in Philadelphia.
Shortly after WWE announced the match on Twitter, the former WALTER seemed confused as he tweeted “Donny… what?”
Luckily for the Intercontinental Champion, his Extreme Rules opponent Sheamus was there to clarify things, replying with a screenshot explaining the origins of the word “Donnybrook.”
The screenshot reads:
“The word Donnybrook is derived from a public fair that was held in Donnybrook, Ireland beginning in the 1200s. By the 1800s, the Donnybrook fair had a reputation of being a drunken, wild event that was finally ended in the mid-1800s.”
With the addition of the Donnybrook match, the card at WWE Extreme Rules will be as follows:
- Brawling Brutes vs. Imperium – Good Old Fashioned Donnybrook Match
- Edge vs. Finn Balor – I Quit Match
- Bianca Belair (c) vs. Bayley – Raw Women’s Championship Ladder Match
- Matt Riddle vs. Seth Rollins – Fight Pit
- Drew McIntyre vs. Karrion Kross – Strap Match
- Liv Morgan (c) vs. Ronda Rousey – SmackDown Women’s Championship Extreme Rules Match
