A bit of an update has emerged on the status of Commander Azeez, who was reportedly moved from Raw to NXT back in June.
Azeez and Apollo Crews were moved to the NXT roster at the same time, but their act with Crews as a Nigerian Prince and Azeez as his bodyguard was dropped, and Azeez hasn’t been on TV since, while Crews has been used prominently with a new gimmick.
According to Fightful Select, they haven’t been told of any “imminent plans” for Azeez in NXT.
Shortly after he was moved to NXT roster, Azeez did work an NXT house show in a mixed tag team match alongside Cora Jade, which led to speculation about them potentially becoming an on-screen pairing, but that hasn’t come to fruition.
Another main roster talent who was moved to NXT more recently is Veer Mahaan, who has already been on NXT TV the past couple of weeks and is set to reunite the Indus-Sher tag team with Sanga.
