UPDATE: New reports have denied that WWE has agreed to sell to Saudi Arabia. More at this link.
January 10, 2023 could well be a monumental day in WWE history as reports are that the company has been sold to the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund.
The belief is that the company will go private so Vince McMahon can reign in charge without having to answer to shareholders and/or a Board of Directors.
You can read the full story on the potential sale at this link.
However, one WWE star has his own idea of what tonight’s real major story is coming out of the latest episode of NXT.
Drew Gulak tweeted:
“Hot news of the evening: HANK WALKER hit a beautiful flying cross armbreaker tonight against CHARLIE DEMPSEY at @WWENXT #NewYearsEvil!”
This seems to be the closest any WWE name has come to publicly addressing the news tonight so far.
Of course there has been plenty of reaction from the wrestling world outside of WWE personnel, including Matt Cardona, whose wife Chelsea Green recently re-signed with WWE, who tweeted:
Anything can happen in the World Wrestling Federation!
Nothing is 100% officially confirmed yet so stay tuned as we’ll cover any announcements as they are made.
