AEW President Tony Khan has commented on MJF’s status, following MJF being removed from the AEW roster page.
With MJF dropping the AEW World Championship to Samoa Joe at World’s End on December 30, 2023, there has been some speculation about the popular star’s next move, with it previously being established that his contract would expire on January 1.
MJF has since been removed from the AEW roster page, amid uncertainty about his in-ring future.
Speaking on Going Ringside for News4JAX, Tony Khan praised MJF, noting that he’d love to feature MJF on AEW TV moving forward.
When asked about MJF being removed from the roster page, Khan said:
“I can say that MJF certainly has been a great part of AEW for the first five years. And through those five years, certainly, he’s been one of our great homegrown stars…and he’s somebody we really value and I would love to have MJF in AEW in the future, should the contractual situation allow.
“Certainly MJF is somebody we would love to have an AEW going forward. And he’s been a great wrestler and a great champion for us.”
While recent reports have indicated that MJF’s removal from the AEW roster page was part of a storyline, it will likely be a while before we see the former AEW World Champion in the ring again.
MJF is currently dealing with several injuries, with it recently noted that of these, his shoulder injury is the most serious.
