Blood featured in the attack on Cody Rhodes by The Rock on this week’s WWE Raw, but it’s not going to be a regular feature.
The attack, which took place in the parking lot, can be seen below this news story with it later being revealed that The Rock had said “tonight, I’m going to make you bleed” to Rhodes at the start of the March 25 show.
Addressing the appearance of blood on WWE programming in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer stated:
With blood, the key is that this is no longer Vince McMahon’s company.
We were told that going forward it will be used very rarely.
There are no plans to turn it into AEW where it’s used more liberally.
There is, however, an exception to the rule with former WWE Champion The Rock being able to use it where he feels, as Meltzer notes:
But if Johnson wants it in his angle, he’s like Lesnar in the Vince administration, and has more power than Lesnar had then, and he’s going to be able to do what he wants in his angles and matches.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson joined the TKO Board of Directors on January 23, 2024 and gained full ownership of “The Rock” trademark and many others related to his various catchphrases and nicknames.
At the WrestleMania 40 kick off event on February 8, he turned heel, siding with Roman Reigns and slapping Cody Rhodes across the face.
On April 6, at WWE WrestleMania 40, The Rock teams with Roman Reigns to take on Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins, with Rhodes going on to face Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on Night 2.
