First-time WWE World Heavyweight Champions to be crowned: The Raw stars who look set to reach the top of the mountain

Sami Zayn is WWE’s latest first-time world champion, with the star notably winning his first Undisputed WWE Title at Night of Champions in June.

With Zayn since losing the championship to CM Punk and winning it back again in December, the current Undisputed WWE Champion is now a firm fixture in SmackDown’s main event scene.

Following the blue brand coronating a first-time titleholder, we could soon see a star hold their first world championship on Raw.

With World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns recently stating that he believes Cody Rhodes is the only other star who could carry the WWE banner, there are a number of wrestlers who are looking to prove themselves as capable main-eventers.

Here are three WWE stars who could soon reach the top of the mountain for the first time on Raw.

Penta

While there are several stars currently chasing Roman Reigns, Penta currently poses the biggest threat to the OTC’s World Heavyweight Championship reign.

Penta won the Money in the Bank ladder match at the October 10 premium live event, and is now able to cash in for a title match at a time of his choosing.

Reigns recently shared the ring with Penta, defending the World Heavyweight Title against the #1 contender’s tournament winner on the September 14 edition of Raw in Mexico City.

With “Señor Dinero en el Banco” being just one of five stars to face Roman Reigns in singles matches this year, it’s clear that WWE sees a lot of potential in Penta as a headline act.

Je’Von Evans

While winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship for the first time would make history, a Je’Von Evans world title victory would be record breaking.

Je’Von Evans has just under two years to win either the Undisputed WWE Title or World Heavyweight Championship to become the youngest world champion in WWE history.

With Randy Orton winning the World Heavyweight Title at the age of 24 years, 4 months and 14 days old, Evans has until September 11, 2028 to win a world title to break this record.

Evans previously stated that he’s “locked in and focused” on achieving this, so we’ll have to wait and see whether he does become a record-setting champion.

Oba Femi

During the WrestleMania 42 post show, Oba Femi issued a challenge to Roman Reigns, who had just defeated CM Punk to become World Heavyweight Champion.

While the two stars have been kept apart since then, Oba Femi called out the World Heavyweight Champion after Money in the Bank, telling Roman Reigns to stop running from him.

With Roman Reigns officially set to compete in the Crown Jewel Championship match against WWE Champion Sami Zayn at Crown Jewel, and the Bloodline involved in faction warfare against the 946 ahead of Survivor Series, many dates from Reigns’ upcoming schedule seem to be accounted for.

With rumors that Femi vs Reigns will actually happen at WrestleMania 43, we could see next year’s Show of Shows end with the coronation of The Ruler.
