10 Biggest WrestleMania Matches In History

4. Steve Austin vs. The Rock (WrestleMania 15, 17 & 19)

Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar this year will become the third time that a trilogy of matches between two competitors has taken place at WrestleMania. Before that there was Triple H vs The Undertaker (all of which were huge matches, but come just shy of being the “biggest”), and then there is this.

Before Dwayne Johnson became the driven, powerful, hungry and devouring star of Fortnite that we all know and love today, he was a bluechip wrestling prospect handpicked to be Vince McMahon’s corporate champion.

The first clash between Rock and Austin took place at WrestleMania 15, where Austin looked to take the WWF Championship from Vince McMahon’s chosen champion at the climax of arguably the hottest angle in the company’s history.

Two years later, with The Rock’s star rising in the wake of Steve Austin requiring neck surgery, Austin won the 2001 Royal Rumble, and the two were set for a second WrestleMania encounter, this time as two of the most over babyfaces in the history of the industry, and two icons.

Finally, was their third encounter two years after that at WrestleMania 19, which would go on to be Austin’s last match ever. A perfect book end to a legendary rivalry and trilogy, nothing has yet to come close to that feeling of seeing the Brahma Bull and the Texas Rattlesnake square off in the squared circle.
