On the July 28 episode of WWE NXT, Grayson Waller showed up unannounced to cut a scathing promo disrespecting the entire men’s roster.
With one promo, Waller became the talk of the wrestling world by catching the attention of the fans with his passion and insults towards different NXT talents.
After watching Waller revive his career, there could be other main roster names who move to the NXT brand to make their presence felt again.
Here are seven more WWE main roster stars to potentially revive careers in NXT.
7. Los Garza (Angel & Berto)

— Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (@luchalibreaaa) July 19, 2026
On the July 28 edition of WWE NXT, Los Garza appeared to help out their Los Perros Del Mal stablemate Bronco Nima in his tag team match with OTM’s Lucien Price against Birthright – though this ended up costing OTM the match.
After this appearance, Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo could continue to show up on Tuesday nights to make Los Perros a factor on NXT.
Angel and Berto are a more than capable tag team that have not consistently appeared on WWE Raw or SmackDown in recent months.
Now that they have started to become a presence in Lucha Libre AAA, Los Garza can join Nima on the NXT brand where Los Perros Del Mal can expand to the United States.
6. Shinsuke Nakamura
Another WWE star who has not been appearing on a consistent basis over the past few months is Shinsuke Nakamura.
‘The King of Strong Style’ definitely has more years behind him than in front of him, but he can be a strong contributor to the company in a more featured role.
Looking at his entire WWE run, Nakamura’s best time with the company had to have been his stint on the NXT brand.
Having the two-time NXT Champion back on the brand, Nakamura would bring a substantial amount of star power and experience to the show, becoming a top star for WWE NXT moving forward.
5. The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed)
When they were called up to the WWE main roster, The Creed Brothers were widely regarded as the future of the company’s tag team division.
Julius and Brutus Creed are decorated collegiate amateur wrestlers who made a seamless transition to the wrestling world after signing with WWE.
Despite winning the NXT Tag Team Championship during their time on the brand, The Creeds were quickly called up to the main roster in 2022, but they haven’t been able to match that success.
The Creed Brothers could regain some momentum by making their return to the NXT brand where they have what it takes to revitalize their tag team scene in a major way.
4. Matt Cardona
Re-signing with WWE in January 2026, Matt Cardona looked to use the success of his independent scene run to rise the ranks back in his home promotion.
However, it feels like Cardona has not been featured consistently on Friday Night SmackDown as of late.
Now seemingly on the outside looking in on the main roster, Cardona might need to use his veteran experience to contribute to the NXT brand.
The former Zack Ryder coming back to NXT to win gold might be the only way he can garner enough attention to make another crack at winning a world title on the main roster.
3. Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer & Axiom)
In 2025, Fraxiom were called up to the WWE main roster following WrestleMania 41 and became part of the Friday Night SmackDown brand.
Despite some early success, Nathan Frazer and Axiom have now found themselves in an inconsistent role on the blue brand recently.
On the June 9 episode of WWE NXT, Fraxiom defeated Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno. After this appearance, the company might realize the duo can contribute more on the NXT brand than the main roster right now.
Wanting to get a record-breaking third reign as NXT Tag Team Champions, Fraxiom could deliver some spectacular encounters with the likes of The Vanity Project, DarkState and Birthright on the brand in the coming weeks and months.
2. Johnny Gargano & Candice LeRae
Over the past few months, Johnny Gargano has been in a state of depression with the former NXT Champion lying face-down backstage for months.
Gargano’s wife Candice LeRae has been stuck by his side, trying to break her husband out of his slumber and not getting in the ring to compete.
Back in March, Gargano and LeRae returned to the NXT brand to attempt to recapture Johnny’s mojo again.
While this attempt failed, Gargano and LeRae may need a permanent move to the WWE NXT brand where they could have a bigger presence moving forward.
1. Ilja Dragunov
WWE fans have not seen Ilja Dragunov on the company’s programming since April.
While he returned and immediately captured the United States Championship, Dragunov now feels lost in the shuffle and may need a change of scenery.
‘The Mad Dragon’ has always been recognized as one of the best in-ring workers in the company, but he first proved that in NXT.
Returning home, Dragunov could bring a huge boost to WWE NXT where his legacy as a former champion would make things exciting in the men’s division again.
