TNA Wrestling Stars Fire Back Following WWE’s Grayson Waller Taking Shots At The Promotion

Two TNA Wrestling stars have fired back following Grayson Waller’s shots at the company on this week’s edition of NXT.

Three months on from his most recent Raw match, Grayson Waller showed up on the July 28 NXT episode to take aim at a number of targets.

Waller stormed the ring at the beginning of the show to admit that the last few years of his career had been an “absolute embarrassment.”

He went on to fire shots at a number of subjects, including his former tag-team partner Austin Theory, the male NXT roster, and TNA Wrestling.

After stating that he’s back to win the NXT Championship, Waller said:

“Who’s gonna stop me? Cruz Montana? He comes in like he’s a big deal, but it’s not 2005, being the top guy in TNA is like being the best basketball player at the local YMCA”

Several TNA stars have now responded to Waller’s comments, including Brian Myers, who previously wrestled in WWE as Curt Hawkins.

Myers took to Twitter to write:

“This really hurts coming from the guy who got sent back to developmental, ouch bro!”

Moose also posted his response to the segment, with the former TNA World Champion writing:

“Bet if he gets fired he will be BEGGING AND PRAYING for a job at the same local YMCA”

The aforementioned “Cruz Montana” is the new ring name for former TNA World Champion Mike Santana, who made his first appearance since signing with WWE on the July 21 NXT episode.

It was an interesting decision to have Waller insult TNA Wrestling, given NXT’s ongoing partnership with the promotion.

While it does make sense in storyline for Grayson Waller to be unapologetic and controversial, some fans feel that this segment was WWE saying the quiet part out loud with how they really feel about their partner.

While NXT has contributed heavily to the talent crossover, some fans have questioned the evenness of it, with how frequently WWE NXT stars have won TNA gold compared to vice versa.

Waller’s comments could be the natural jumping off point for a rivalry with a TNA babyface, however with the WWE star’s return, the company could be reluctant about having him lose.

It will be interesting to see how WWE presents Grayson Waller moving forward, after he just – in storyline – burned his bridges with pretty much everyone he has crossed paths with.
