WWE Star Dominik Mysterio Emotionally Opens Up About His Wife Saving His Life

WWE star Dominik Mysterio has emotionally opened up about how his wife saved his life at a time where he was at a very low point.

Mysterio has become known for his on-screen relationships with Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan on WWE TV, but in the background in 2024, he got married to the woman he’d been in a relationship with since he was a child.

Speaking on the Ariel Helwani Show today, Mysterio spoke about how his wife Marie ultimately saved his life. He said:

“I was just at a point in my life where I was unhealthy. I wasn’t being safe with the things that I was doing as far as taking care of my body. I was going to school but I wasn’t really doing anything. I was just in a very low point in my life.

“She has been with me since I was 14, so with her encouraging me and letting me know when the opportunity presented itself to try and wrestle… I didn’t wanna do it because I didn’t wanna leave her.

“She was like, ‘You’ve gotta go. If you don’t go, what else are you gonna do?’ She’s like, ‘You’re gonna kill yourself here overeating and just not being healthy.’ She’s like, ‘You need to go and do this for yourself.’

“Overall, I wanted to do it and I wanted to do something with my life. But I was afraid to leave her because I didn’t want her to leave me.

“I was like, ‘I don’t wanna go.’ And she was like, ‘I’ll be here when you come back.’ As soon as I heard that, I was like, ‘Okay. If you can promise me that you’ll be here when I come back, I’ll go, I’ll take care of us, I promise you.'”

Confusion Over Dominik Mysterio’s Father WWE Storyline

Dominik Mysterio also recalled the confusion at school when he was involved in a storyline on WWE TV as a child with Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero battling over who was Dominik’s father.

He said:

“The teachers thought I genuinely had issues at home. They would call my parents in, and my parents would have to explain to them that this is just a storyline. It was a whole thing.

“Even some of the students were like ‘You don’t have a dad.’ ‘Yeah I do, I’ve got two dads.’ They thought it was a shoot.

“The teachers don’t watch wrestling so they get told I’m not gonna be at school for a certain amount of time and then they go watch what I’m doing and it’s this soap opera, this student is being told that he’s not a part of this family and he’s getting taken by social services.

“I show up to school and they’re like ‘When’s the social worker picking you up?’ ‘Nah, my mom’s right there, what are you talking about?'”
