Recently, Matt Hardy revealed that The Hardy Boyz were in talks to potentially make a return to WWE sometime in 2026.

Back in 2025, The Hardy Boyz made their return to the company and appeared several times on the NXT brand, including capturing the NXT Tag Team Championship.

With an expected comeback this year, there could be several different ways for WWE to bring Matt and Jeff Hardy back into the fold over the next 12 months.

Here are six potential Hardy Boyz WWE return plans in 2026.

6. Challenge The Vanity Project for the NXT Tag Team Championship

At the WWE NXT ShowDown event, The Hardy Boyz defeated DarkState to win the NXT Tag Team Championship.

However, DarkState were able to regain the title from Matt and Jeff Hardy in a Broken Rules match at WWE NXT Halloween Havoc 2025.

Since losing the gold, The Hardys have not appeared on WWE NXT, but they should be owed a rematch for the titles.

Now that The Vanity Project are the new NXT Tag Team Champions, The Hardy Boyz could return to challenge Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes for the titles upon their return to the brand.
