Lucha Brothers WWE main roster plans: Three teams who Penta & Rey Fenix could soon face on Raw or SmackDown

Penta and Rey Fenix recently wrestled at WWE Worlds Collide, with the Lucha Brothers taking on Berto and Daga of Los Perros del Mal.

With this being the duo’s first (soon-to-be) televised two-on-two match together since joining WWE, there has been a lot of speculation about what’s next for Penta and Fenix in the company.

As Penta and Fenix haven’t yet brought their tandem to Raw or SmackDown TV, there are numerous possibilities for what to do with this team ahead of its televised main roster debut.

Here are three teams we could see the Lucha Brothers potentially face in the coming months.

Judgment Day

Ahead of Worlds Collide, and their trios match at AAA Ola De Calor, the first time Penta and Rey Fenix wrestled alongside one another in WWE was in a dark match following the July 31 SmackDown episode.

In this match which didn’t air during the live broadcast, Penta and Fenix defeated Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh to send the crowd home happy.

With both teams having already shared the ring, and with Penta and Dominik’s previous Intercontinental Championship feud, it’d make sense to see these two sides square off in a televised encounter.

With the Judgment Day and Penta currently part of the Raw roster, this match would involve Fenix paying another visit to the red brand.

The MFTs

Tama and Talla Tonga of the MFTs are the current WWE Tag Team Champions, winning the gold from R-Truth and Damian Priest in a match also featuring the War Raiders on the August 14 SmackDown episode.

While Kyoki and Shinsuke Nakamura are hellbent in dethroning The MFTs, if Bakusai are unsuccessful, we could see Tama and Talla take on a different set of challengers.

Penta and Fenix would be fitting opponents for the WWE Tag Team Champions, with the duo having held gold in a variety of companies, including AEW, TNA, PWG, and the previous iteration of AAA, prior to WWE’s acquisition.

For the Lucha Bros to hold tag-team gold on the main roster, The MFTs are one option for Penta and Fenix to beat.

The Vision

Meanwhile, The Vision holds the World Tag Team Championship on Raw, with Austin Theory and Bron Breakker defeating the Street Profits to win the gold on the July 6 episode.

Penta has had run-ins with The Vision in the past, and could bring Rey Fenix to the red brand to battle the current champions.

With Theory and Breakker yet to defend their title in a televised match, WWE doesn’t have much interest in showcasing this duo as the face of the tag-team division.

Penta and Fenix could help to revitalise this division, following a World Tag Team Championship victory.
