Now that he is back on top of WWE as World Heavyweight Champion, Roman Reigns will be in position to headline several important events throughout the year, including SummerSlam 2026.

With this event set to take place over two-nights in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Reigns will need a major opponent to put on a high-profile showdown.

From longtime rivals to new opposition, “The OTC” has plenty of different options for him to square off with at the PLE this August.

Here are eight potential Roman Reigns WWE SummerSlam 2026 opponents.

8. Jey Uso

Back at WWE SummerSlam 2023, Roman Reigns defeated Jey Uso in a Tribal Combat Match to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Since this match, the two cousins have not faced off with one another in a singles match and have reunited in The Bloodline.

In 2025, it looked like Reigns and Uso were set to be on another collision course after some tension between the two.

Jey Uso aligning himself with Jacob Fatu in his current rivalry with Roman Reigns could lead to a rekindling of this feud at WWE SummerSlam 2026.

7. LA Knight

Another former rival of Roman Reigns who could potentially rekindle their issues is LA Knight.

Back at WWE Crown Jewel 2023, Reigns defeated Knight to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Since WrestleMania 42, Knight has found himself without a real direction on Monday Night Raw, but he has made it clear that he still wants to win his first world title.

Knight challenging Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship would bring his tentative alliance with The Usos to the forefront and put them right in the middle of things on the road to the WWE SummerSlam 2026 premium live event.

6. Finn Balor

To start 2026, Finn Balor has set his sights on the World Heavyweight Championship, challenging CM Punk on two separate occasions.

After coming up short against Punk for a second time at WWE Elimination Chamber 2026, Balor turned babyface due to being excommunicated from The Judgment Day.

Following the conclusion of his current feud with his former stablemates, it might be time for Balor to challenge Reigns for the first time in five years.

Wanting to avenge his loss to “The OTC” from Extreme Rules 2021, Balor might want to beat Reigns and no one else to win the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE SummerSlam 2026 this August.

5. Bron Breakker

On the WWE Raw After WrestleMania 41, Bron Breakker introduced himself as a member of The Vision, aligning himself with Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman by attacking Roman Reigns in convincing fashion.

Despite facing each other in multiple tag team matches, it feels like WWE has been hesitant on pulling the trigger on Breakker and Reigns facing each other.

At WWE Backlash 2026, Breakker pulled off the biggest win of his career so far by beating Seth Rollins.

Following this win, it should lead to Breakker challenging Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE SummerSlam 2026 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

4. Drew McIntyre

Towards the end of 2024 into 2025, Drew McIntyre took aim at The Bloodline, calling them the cause of all of his issues over the past few years.

McIntyre was prevented from winning the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship from Roman Reigns back at Clash At The Castle 2022.

“The Scottish Warrior” was once again defeated by another member of the Samoan family dynasty when he lost to Jacob Fatu in an Unsanctioned Match at WWE WrestleMania 42.

Looking to get his vengeance on The Bloodline, McIntyre can now target Roman Reigns and the World Heavyweight Championship just in time for WWE SummerSlam 2026.

3. CM Punk

At WWE WrestleMania 42 Night Two, Roman Reigns defeated CM Punk to win the World Heavyweight Championship.

Following this loss, Punk has not been seen on WWE television over the past few weeks.

Biding his time for when he wants to return and get his title back, Punk could return on the road to WWE SummerSlam 2026 where it would set up a WrestleMania 42 rematch.

“The OTC” and “The Best In The World” have plenty of unfinished business from their Mania showdown that would make a rematch at WWE SummerSlam 2026 deeply compelling to watch unfold.

2. Seth Rollins

Ever since making his return from a serious shoulder injury, Seth Rollins has made it clear what his goals are.

Not only does Rollins want to destroy The Vision, he wants to reclaim the title he never lost.

In October 2025, Rollins suffered a shoulder injury that required surgery and put him on the sidelines for several months.

Now that he is back into the fold, WWE shouldn’t waste any time before having Rollins go back after the World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns at the SummerSlam 2026 PLE.

1. Oba Femi

At WWE WrestleMania 42 Night Two, Oba Femi defeated Brock Lesnar in what was the biggest victory of his young career so far.

“The Ruler” made it no secret where his sights were centered on next by calling out Roman Reigns on the Mania post-show.

Looking to become a World Heavyweight Champion for the first time, this should lead to Femi winning the King of the Ring tournament to earn his opportunity against Reigns at WWE SummerSlam 2026.

Oba colliding with Roman would make for a massive showdown to take place in the headline spot at WWE SummerSlam 2026 and checks every box that most fans desire to see in a match of this caliber.
