Ten Biggest Takeaways From WWE 24: Edge

7. Edge & Tommaso Ciampa Developed a Friendship After a Trip to NXT

Edge took a trip to NXT last year as a way to get back into the business and pass on some of his knowledge and wisdom. One of the people he really connected with was Tommaso Ciampa. Ciampa was interviewed for the documentary where he mentioned Edge had been one of his favourite wrestlers.

Ciampa was going through recovery from neck surgery at the time and that is obviously a topic Edge knows a lot about. The two developed a friendship out of that with Ciampa saying they would spend hours texting ideas and advice.

6. A Bike Wipeout With Sheamus is when Things Changed

Of all the things to get you thinking about a comeback. Edge discusses what made him think he could wrestle again at length in the documentary. He brought up doing his own fight scenes on shows like Vikings but that wasn’t what got him set in his ways. Rather, it was a bike accident.

While mountain biking with Sheamus for his Celtic Warrior Workouts series, Edge took a spill on his bike. For a guy with multiple neck surgeries, this could be scary, but for Edge this was the beginning of his return. Being able to take a hard fall off his bike got the gears turning as he felt no pain in his neck. Who knows what would have happened if he and Sheamus had just finished their bike ride safely.

5. Edge and Beth Phoenix Started Dating After Edge Appreciation Night

Edge goes into detail about the relationship he has with Toronto and Scotiabank Arena (formerly the Air Canada Center). This is where he and Christian broke up, it was where he and Christian had their last match, and it was where they had Edge Appreciation Night in September 2011. The SmackDown roster joined Edge in the ring during the celebration and there was one very important guest among them.

That guest was Beth Phoenix. The two had never gotten to know each other prior to this but they hit it off talking about how they trained and wrestled in the same places. Soon enough, they were married and not long after that, they had two daughters.

Funny enough, the first physical moment he had in WWE since his retirement was at SummerSlam 2019 in, you guessed it, Scotiabank Arena.

4. AEW Contacted Edge, he Wanted to Talk to Vince

While they don’t bring them up by name, All Elite Wrestling contacted Edge regarding a return to the ring. This is when he started going to see doctors to get cleared to return. It is not stated what he was offered by AEW to return to the ring but he mentioned that he had to talk to Vince no matter what.

This is the next show of respect between he and Vince McMahon. Upon Edge revealing his situation to Vince, Vince was adamant that this happen in WWE. Truthfully, it would have been very odd seeing Edge anywhere but WWE.
