Vignette Announces New AEW Signing On Dynamite

Vignette Announces New AEW Signing On Dynamite AEW

UPDATE: There was an official announcement during AEW Dynamite that Nick Wayne vs Swerve Strickland is set for next week.

An AEW signee received an amazing albeit rare-for-the-company vignette on tonight’s AEW Dynamite to introduce him to fans.

Still currently under the age of 18, independent wrestling star Nick Wayne was introduced to fans via a vignette with Darby Allin.

While Wayne didn’t appear in the vignette, Darby Allin was shown in the Buddy Wayne Wrestling Academy where he trained, reminiscing.

Allin recalled how Nick Wayne was a small child just hanging around in the ring when he was training, and after he found out that the elder Wayne passed away suddenly, Darby immediately thought about Nick.

Vowing to himself that he would look out for Nick Wayne, Darby said that he encouraged Tony Khan to check out Wayne’s work and when he was just 16 years old, he was offered a future contract with AEW.

Left unsaid from the vignette is that Wayne turns 18 on July 10 (in five days’ time) and has been previously teased on social media as already planned to take on DEFY rival Swerve Strickland on next week’s AEW Dynamite.

To kick off tonight’s show, former AEW Tag Team Champions Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee teamed yet again to take on Orange Cassidy and Darby Allin in the Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament.

Cassidy and Allin picked up the win, due to turmoil between Strickland and Lee, as expected.
