An AEW name has reacted to CM Punk’s WWE Survivor Series return.
At WWE Survivor Series 2023, CM Punk made his return to the company for the first time in nine years in his hometown of Chicago to close the show.
This comes off the heels of Punk being let go from AEW as his contract was terminated “with cause” on September 2, following a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at AEW All In London.
Punk’s return was greeted with some reported displeasure from the likes of Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre.
However, a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion feels that they will have to get used to making time for the new addition to the promotion.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, AEW coach and WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry discussed CM Punk’s WWE return and how the locker room will react. He said:
“There’s some people at the top that’s not gonna be happy. Because they’re gonna get less minutes, they’re gonna have to acquiesce to the new addition to the company.
“And there’s a lot of people that would take their ball and go home. Hell, Steve Austin took his ball and went home before.
“Everybody always comes back. They always realize, ‘The business is bigger than me, I don’t wanna be on the wrong side’. And the ones that do (leave), we don’t give a s**t about them anyway.
“The ones, ‘Oh I’m gonna retire if this person comes back’. The ones that, ‘You know what, if he’s here, I don’t wanna be here’.
“Take your ass home then. Because the business is gonna roll and roll and roll with or without you.”
CM Punk will make his first appearance on Monday Night Raw since 2014 on tonight’s November 27 episode.
As previously reported, new backstage details have been revealed on Tony Khan’s reaction to CM Punk’s WWE return.
