Wayne’s most recent televised ROH in-ring appearance came on the May 14 episode (taped May 9), with Wayne dropping the ROH World Television Championship to AR Fox.

This was ahead of Nick Wayne competing in the NJPW Best of the Super Juniors tournament, as AEW’s lone representative.

Wayne wrestled 14 matches in total for NJPW during the 2026 Best of the Super Juniors tour, with nine of them being in tournament A-block action.

The AEW star scored 10 points in the A-block, with victories over Ryusuke Taguchi, Robbie X, Daiki Nagai, Titan and Valiente Jr.

His losses were against semifinalist Master Wato, tournament runner-up Kosei Fujita, Francesco Akira and Jun Kasai.

His match against Kasai was a notable one, with the deathmatch legend pitching for Wayne to face his son Hinata Kasai, following their bout.

Wayne’s last match in Japan saw him, Valiente Jr, Daisuke Sasaki, Master Wato and Ryusuke Taguchi defeat Daiki Nagai, Gedo, Robbie X, Taiji Ishimori and Titan during the June 7 Best of the Super Juniors final event.

Following this, Nick Wayne stated that he wished he could stay in NJPW for longer, and is hoping that one day he will be back in a New Japan ring.

With Wayne clearly earning the respect of fans and wrestlers alike with his 2025 and 2026 Best of the Super Juniors runs, it would make sense for Wayne to continue making crossover appearances for NJPW, and to become a figurehead of the AEW-NJPW partnership.
