AEW Star Emotionally Breaks Silence After Returning From Over A Year Away AEW

Santana made his AEW return from injury and has been added to the AEW All In card alongside Ortiz at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, August 27.

It was recently reported that Santana was medically cleared after being out of action for over a year, suffering a torn ACL during last year’s Blood & Guts match.

Santana’s return now sees him being called Mike Santana and would also see the pair entered into the Stadium Stampede match this Sunday.

The star has taken to Twitter to share a message following his return on the August 23 episode of AEW Dynamite, writing:

“To say that I knew what the road ahead of me was going to be like when I got hurt, would be totally false.

“The struggles and battles I’ve overcome to get back to what I love and have dedicated my life to is unimaginable. But the most important thing was that it taught me so much about myself and made me a 10x better person than who I was.

“I’m thankful that everything from the last 3 and half years happened the way they did. It needed to. Everything from losing my father, to unhappiness at work, to personal struggles, and everything in between.

“I’m thankful for all those things. They forced me to face me. To look in the mirror and learn to love/appreciate the person looking back.

“My story will be told eventually. I just want to enjoy this moment that I’ve worked so damn hard to get to.

“Thanks to EVERYONE who ever reached out. Every message from the fans. All the support from my family. Those who were there during my darkest days. I’ll forever be grateful for all of you.

“NOW LETS GET TO WORK!”

Konnan had previously spoken about the relationship between Ortiz and Santana, revealing that the pair “haven’t been seeing eye to eye” but he’d been trying to reunite them.

He would also comment on Santana’s apparent frustration with how he was being used in AEW.

It’s unclear whether the real-life issues between Santana and Ortiz have been resolved, but they’re at least on the same team for Stadium Stampede at All In, teaming with the Blackpool Combat Club against Eddie Kingston, Orange Cassidy, Best Friends and Penta El Zero Miedo.
