AEW Star Fires Shots At Triple H, Classic WWE PPV Returning, WWE Officially Retires Championship – News Bulletin – November 10, 2022 WWE

An AEW star fires shots at Triple H, a classic WWE PPV returning, WWE officially retires a championship, and more.

It is Thursday morning, and you know what that means, it’s time to get you up to speed on all the latest wrestling news on November 10, 2022.

Jeff Jarrett Fires Shots At Triple H & Braun Strowman During AEW Dynamite

Jeff Jarrett made his second appearance on AEW Dynamite this week on November 9 and once again took some shots at his peers. This time, it was WWE that was on the receiving end of his vitriol.

Jarrett was putting over Satnam Singh and referred to him as a ‘real giant’ and not a ‘make-believe monster who wears red skinny jeans’ in a savage put-down aimed at Braun Strowman.

He went on to criticise Triple H’s creative direction altogether, referring to WWE as the ‘banana-nosed circus.’

We’ll have to wait and see if WWE acknowledges these comments from their 2018 Hall of Fame inductee.

After the new regime took over WWE, Jeff Jarrett was released from his EVP of Live Events role and replaced by Triple H hire Road Dogg

Elsewhere on AEW Dynamite:

  • The Acclaimed & FTR defeated The Gunns & Swerve In Our Glory
  • On next week’s Dynamite, AEW will announce details for its UK debut
  • Ethan Page defeated Eddie Kingston to advance in the #1 contender tournament
  • Wardlow retained the TNT Title over Ari Daivari
  • Post-match, Samoa Joe turned on Wardlow, seemingly setting up a Full Gear three-way between Joe, Wardlow and Powerhouse Hobbs
  • Jade Cargill defending the TBS Championship against Nyla Rose was made official for Full Gear
  • Saraya announced she’s cleared for an in-ring return and will face Britt Baker at Full Gear
  • A new vignette aired teasing the return of Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks, heavily hinting that they’ll be back at Full Gear
  • Jay Lethal defeated Trent Beretta, followed by the announcement of Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal vs Darby Allin & Sting for Full Gear
  • Jamie Hayter defeated Skye Blue
  • Bryan Danielson defeated Sammy Guevara 2-1 in a 2/3 falls main event

An update has also emerged on the future of AEW’s television rights contract with Warner Bros Discovery.

According to Fightful Select (subscription required), a long-time employee of Warner Bros Discovery said that they’d be shocked if AEW was not offered a renewal as well as a significant increase on their rights fee deals.

Triple H To Bring Back Classic WWE PPV

And speaking of Paul Levesque’s (Triple H’s) creative direction, WWE’s Chief Content Officer is seemingly planning to bring back the iconic WWE PPV King of the Ring tournament.

WrestleVotes told GiveMeSport that there’s a “very good chance” Levesque will bring back the King of the Ring tournament.

Notably, the plans are said to include bringing the tournament back to its classic format.

Xavier Woods won the 2021 King of the Ring tournament

In more recent iterations, the tournament has taken place over multiple weeks during SmackDown and Raw, with finals taking place during a premium live event.

The King of the Ring tournament in 2021 is one example and culminated with a final match-up at Crown Jewel between Finn Balor and winner Xavier Woods.

A Queen’s Crown Tournament also took place in 2021 under a similar format. Again, the final took place during Crown Jewel with Zelina Vega securing the victory over Doudrop.

Zelina Vega recently returned from injury as a new member of Legado Del Fantasma

Now, WrestleVotes reports that a return would ‘likely’ revert to the classic format of a one-night premium live event.

WrestleVotes said:

“There’s a very good chance that King of the Ring is back, and likely back in the format that had happened in the late 80s. The idea is that every single match will happen that night.”

WrestleTalk will keep you updated as more details emerge. It will be interesting to see if a women’s division equivalent will also be a part of Levesque’s plans.

WWE Officially Retires Championship

WWE has officially retired the 24/7 Championship. The title seemed to be in the can after Nikki Cross’ victory over Dana Brooke saw Cross toss the title in the trash on the November 7 edition of Raw.

Nikki Cross’ aim was off and she missed the trash by mistake,  but the title has been officially laid to rest as the title is now shown as inactive on WWE.com following this segment.

The title was introduced by Mick Foley on May 20, 2019, during the edition of Raw and promised to bring with it some chaotic moments as it could be defended anywhere, at any time, as long as a WWE referee was present.

R-Truth held the 24/7 Championship an incredible 54 times

Dana Brooke, who was on her fifteenth title run before losing out to Cross, was seemingly unhappy with the decision to retire the championship. Following Raw, Brooke said:

“Everything I have worked for & tried to elevate… LITERALLY IN THE TRASH! #wwe@WWE
@USA_Network”

Ric Flair has called out JBL for bullying for the second time this week. Flair’s latest comments were made during an episode of his To Be The Man Podcast. He said: “We all know the story of Bradshaw. It’s f**king brutal. But he’s rewarded with a Hall of Fame? It’s their company. They do what they want to do.”

Baron Corbin and JBL

WWE has filed several trademarks on the word “Ucey” and iterations of the phrase. Sami Zayn coined the idiom during a spot on SmackDown where he tried to account for a misstep made by Jey Uso toward Roman Reigns. The phrase seemed to be off the cuff and saw several Bloodline members crack with laughter. It has also won over fans as it has been audible during live shows, not least at Crown Jewel.

Fightful Select has been confirmed that IMPACT wrestler Lady Frost has been granted release from the promotion, as per Fightful Select. Lady Frost had asked for her release from the company months ago, and IMPACT finally granted it in October.

Former TNA wrestler Taryn Terrell (FKA Tiffany of WWE) has announced that she is retiring from wrestling. Terrell had most recently been working for the NWA and her last match took place on August 31. In an Instagram post, Taryn Terrell announced her retirement and thanked NWA President Billy Corgan for the opportunities he gave her to commentate, manage and wrestle in the ring.
