AEW Star Discusses Going Back To ‘Day One’ For Recent Return AEW

An AEW star has discussed going back to “day one” for his recent return.

After losing the TNT Championship from Luchasaurus on the premiere episode of AEW Collision in June, Wardlow was absent from AEW programming for nearly four months.

The former three-time TNT Champion made his return to the promotion on the fourth anniversary edition of AEW Dynamite in a dominant squash win over Griff Garrison.

After the win, Wardlow quickly exited the ring and left through the crowd. He went on to do the same following a victory over Matt Sydal on the Title Tuesday episode of Dynamite.

Speaking with Jeff Adams of Sports Nightly, the AEW star explained why it’s time to go back to “day one Wardlow.” He said:

“You know, it’s time to go back to day one Wardlow. The hair’s growing back.”

“I’ve somehow in that four months (I was gone) got bigger and stronger which doesn’t help anybody on the roster.”

“Because not only did I gain 20, 30 pounds of muscle but I’m also really pissed off. So, it’s a bad combination.

It was highlighted that Wardlow had the name of AEW World Champion MJF on his wrist tape during his return. Wardlow defeated MJF at AEW Double Or Nothing 2022.

As previously reported, the three-time TNT Champion also warned Adam Cole to “pull the trigger” on MJF before he does it elsewhere in the interview.
