Will Ospreay recently signed with AEW and will join the roster when his NJPW contract ends in February 2024.
The multi-year deal will see him in AEW will go “over three years“, and he’ll still be able to work select NJPW dates.
In NJPW, Ospreay founded United Empire in October 2020 alongside Great-O-Khan, adding additional members to the group including Aussie Open.
United Empire would make its presence felt in AEW with Aussie Open going on to sign with the company in May 2023.
It looks like Ospreay’s signing with AEW doesn’t disrupt United Empire in NJPW, according to Great-O-Khan.
In an interview with Tokyo Sports (translated from Japanese), Great-O-Khan said:
“Ospreay will continue to move up to New Japan, and will not leave United Empire.
“I guess all they need to do is increase the number of members of the United Empire over there and show their authority.
“Citizens of the Empire have nothing to worry about.”
Great O’Khan would also discuss a possible future in AEW, saying:
“There is no way that I will receive an extraordinary offer.
“He’s called Tony “Khan”, so he’s like a distant relative.
“However, I have a mission now.
“Shinsuke Nakamura said that the Japanese professional wrestling world needs a savior.
“Who else is there besides me? I will become the “chosen savior”!”
Great-O-Khan started training in 2015 with NJPW and made his debut in February 2016.
During his time with the company, he has been a two-time IWGP Tag Team Champion with Jeff Cobb.
