Another TNA Wrestling star has departed the company following this past weekend’s Slammiversary pay-per-view event.

In recent weeks, there has been a number of major departures from TNA Wrestling, including both wrestlers and backstage creative staff.

Among those names are Steve Maclin, Tommy Dreamer and Sami Callihan, and now another TNA star has left the company.

Eric Young Released By TNA

Per Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, TNA has come to terms on the release of former TNA World Champion Eric Young following Slammiversary.

Young’s last match took place on the Countdown to Slammiversary, where he was defeated by Ricky Sosa.

Young had previously re-signed with WWE back in 2022 after his initial release in 2020, though he didn’t make an appearance on WWE television.

Young was set to be a part of the planned Wyatt Sicks angle with Bray Wyatt and Uncle Howdy, which never got started due to Bray’s illness.

Young would request and be granted his release from the company in April 2023 before he made an appearance on WWE television due to the return of Vince McMahon.

Will Road Dogg Bring Positive Change To TNA Creative?

Following the recent major backstage changes in TNA, we may be about to enter a new era of TNA, especially from the creative side of things.

With Tommy Dreamer now out of the company, TNA is reportedly set to bring in former WWE SmackDown writer ‘Road Dogg’ Brian James to head the creative team in the company.

Road Dogg had two different stints as WWE’s head writer for SmackDown, both of which saw him be heavily criticised by fans, who were not high on the quality of the show at the times he was the head.

However, while many fans have slated Road Dogg’s work, as part of the WWE creative team he is one of many talking heads, all of whom eventually get filtered through Paul Levesque, which left him without much freedom to truly showcase his own ideas.

With him calling the shots in TNA, we will get a better look at what a primarily Road Dogg booked wrestling event looks like.
