A new update has emerged regarding the injury status and return timeline of WWE’s Bron Breakker.
On Sunday, February 8, it was reported that Bron Breakker had undergone surgery after suffering a “serious hernia.”
The following night on WWE Raw, Michael Cole stated on commentary that Breakker would be out “indefinitely”, with The Vision’s own Paul Heyman claiming that Breakker had suffered a hernia whilst deadlifting.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided an update on Breakker’s status, saying that the former two-time Intercontinental Champion had been dealing with the issue “for a while” and there’s currently “no timetable” for his comeback.
“He has had this issue for a while… He had been working with it and then it got bad. Then the day it got bad he needed emergency surgery. I don’t think it was deadlifting, I’m not exactly sure what it was…
“There’s no timetable for a return, they’re talking about career-ending, I think that’s kind of an exaggeration, he’ll come back.”

Despite speculation among fans online, Meltzer confirmed that Breakker’s early elimination from the Royal Rumble was not executed due to his injury:
“That had nothing to do with the Royal Rumble being out, people are like, ‘Oh that’s why they did the thing at the Rumble’ – it had nothing to do with the Rumble, even though yeah he probably had it long before that. It had nothing to with any bookings, anything they’ve been doing. It was just like he got checked out and had to have emergency surgery.”
In an update on the nature of Breakker’s surgery, Meltzer stated that the procedure was more serious than a typical laparoscopy (keyhole) operation for a hernia:
“He’ll be out for a while, as far as how long though, nobody’s really given me a timetable. Could be 12 weeks, could be six months at worst, probably not that long but again, I don’t know the details.
“People have had the other surgery, and that’s usually about a two month recovery, but his situation was worse than the regular surgery, it wasn’t the laparoscopy, this was a major operation.”

It was reported by Meltzer last week that a match between Breakker and Seth Rollins could feature on the WrestleMania 42 card – with “The Visionary” looking likely to be cleared for a return from his own shoulder injury before the two-night event on April 18-19.
It’s currently unclear if/how plans will be changed as a result of Breakker’s absence and whether he will make it back in time to compete in Las Vegas.
We will provide updates on Breakker’s status as they become available and send our best wishes to him in his recovery.
