CM Punk has spoken for the first time since the AEW All Out media scrum, where he spoke about his upcoming return to AEW on the debut episode of Collision.
Punk spoke to ESPN about a variety of topics, including his match with Adam Page at Double or Nothing, as well as the fallout from the AEW All Out media scrum.
Later in the interview, Punk spoke about Collision, and his upcoming return to the company.
Punk said that the introduction of the new show will allow a lot of younger AEW stars that could be spotlighted on the show, specifically naming Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs as two he believes could do ‘what MJF did’.
He said:
“With more TV time, you’re only going to see guys like Hobbs and Starks, people who I think have the potential to do what an MJF [current AEW champion] has done with his television time but they haven’t been able to be positioned because a guy like MJF gets a big lion share of television time, because he earned.
“We just need to do a better job of spotlighting so many different guys, and this is, for a lot of guys, sink or swim. Now it’s just like, well, now’s the time. You’re going to have to really bust your ass and prove why we’re giving you this spotlight and this TV time.”
Punk is set to return to AEW tomorrow on Collision, when he teams with FTR to face Samoa Joe, Jay White and Juice Robinson.
