Cody Rhodes Reacts To Shawn Spears Shock WWE Return

Cody Rhodes has reacted to fellow former AEW star Shawn Spears making a surprise return to WWE on tonight’s episode NXT.

The big reveal came as an interruption to an in-ring segment featuring Ridge Holland.

After the lights turned off and the screens filled with white text, a shrouded figure was seen before he hit Holland with a chair.

It was Shawn Spears, joining the likes of CM Punk and Cody Rhodes making a return to WWE after a foray to AEW.

Commentary did repeatedly call him Shawn Spears, the name he used in AEW, not his former WWE name Tye Dillinger.

Now Cody Rhodes has also reacted, taking to Twitter to leave one very simple post.

Cody wrote:

Cody Rhodes and Spears are not only real life friends, they had some notable bouts in AEW as well, including one very infamous chair shot.

Elsewhere, Spears’ real-life wife Cassie Lee (fka Peyton Royce in WWE) has commented on the return.

Shortly after his surprise appearance attacking Holland, Spears said in an interview on NXT that he’ll be at Roadblock next week.
