Former WWE SmackDown Head Writer Road Dogg Praises The Street Profits, ‘Montez Ford Is A Superstar, Angelo Dawkins Is The Unsung Hero’ WWE

Former WWE SmackDown head writer and Tag Team Champion Road Dogg has praised current stars The Street Profits.

After months out of action and off TV, the Profits – Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins – returned on the WWE Raw after WrestleMania 42 this past Monday and targeted World Tag Team Champions Austin Theory and Logan Paul.

In a new video for Sirius XM Sports, the New Age Outlaws – Road Dogg and Billy Gunn – were asked to name the team from current wrestling that they’d have wanted to face in the Attitude Era.

Gunn named his sons Austin & Colten Gunn, while Road Dogg named the Street Profits.

He explained:

“I love the Street Profits, I think they’re great athletes. I think Montez is a superstar and everybody knows it. Dawkins is the unsung hero. Dawkins is an athlete of athletes.

“It would be them for me (the team from today that he’d want the New Age Outlaws to face in the Attitude Era) because I think they bring a cool dynamic, the cool energy.”

WWE SmackDown Without Road Dogg

A few months ago, Road Dogg left his role as SmackDown head writer and departed WWE entirely after reportedly being unhappy with his yearly review.

A lot was made about the state of SmackDown under Road Dogg, but it certainly hasn’t gotten any better since his exit.

Some of that has to do with TKO involvement on the road to WrestleMania, but it almost feels like he was a convenient scapegoat for the parts of the show that people didn’t like, when in reality, fans have no idea who’s really behind any segment unless it’s something that someone has publicly spoken about.

And even with what we see on WWE Unreal, everyone has to remember that even though that show presents itself as being ‘real’ behind the scenes footage – it’s still manufactured by WWE to show what the company wants people to see.
