G1 CLIMAX Participants RANKED

16. Yoshi-Hashi (3-6-0)

Yoshi-Hashi was maybe the most average participant in this year’s G1 Climax. None of his matches were especially bad but the vast majority of them did nothing to stand out.

The early portions of the tournament saw Kevin Kelly and Rocky Romero identify Yoshi-Hashi as “the loser of the A Block,” a title that no one should want to carry. Yoshi-Hashi’s story throughout his run in the G1 was that he was incapable of taking the necessary steps to reach the next level, and while that is a valuable story to tell it does not lend itself for making Yoshi-Hashi look like a star.

Yoshi-Hashi did not stand out hardly at all in this tournament and was perhaps the only person who really did not feel like they belonged with the other stars. He did manage to have a couple really good matches which elevates him from being at the very bottom of this list but he will have to do a lot more next year if he wants to succeed.

Best Match: vs. Kazuchika Okada (Night 9)

Worst Match vs. Bad Luck Fale (Night 15)

15. Hangman Page (3-6-0)

This is where this list starts getting difficult, as everyone from here to the end managed to put together a good performance in the tournament. Hangman Page has taken unbelievable strides just this year to the point of being a true star. Once considered the lowest member on the Bullet Club totem pole, Page now sits as a star alongside his stablemates.

Page had great presence in his matches throughout the G1 Climax and he definitely felt like he belonged among the top stars in the company. However, while Page did have a number of good matches, there never seemed to be a true blowaway, star-making match.

Page had a very consistent G1 and it should be looked at as a great achievement in his career, however in this tournament there were just too many people who were better.
