GUNTHER Celebrates Longest Intercontinental Title Reign In WWE History WWE

GUNTHER and his Imperium stablemates Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci had a grand celebration to mark a major milestone in WWE history.

After having surpassed the Honky Tonk Man as the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history, GUNTHER’s record breaking reign was celebrated in an in-ring segment tonight.

However, despite an epic entrance plus some great pyrotechnics at ringside, the celebration did not go entirely as planned.

Interrupted in his ceremony, GUNTHER was faced by his last challenger, Chad Gable.

With Gable coming to the ring, the pair would engage in a fiery promo segment including Gable sharing the emotional example of seeing his daughter crying because of his loss.

Meanwhile, GUNTHER was disinterested and shot back that Gable was using his children as an emotional ploy, he also called him a disgusting and terrible Father. Yikes!

Bedlam ensued thereafter with Otis running out and then a surprise assist from Tommaso Ciampa who joined the Alpha Academy in their fight against Imperium in the ring.

Later in a backstage segment, Ciampa explained that Adam Pearce had told him to seize his moment and there was no bigger moment to interrupt than GUNTHER’s record breaking title reign celebration, although noting it seemed Gable had the same idea.

While Imperium arrived and challenged the trio to a match, it seemed there was a tenuous partnership between Alpha Academy and Ciampa with the big six-man battle (which Otis described as ‘six man carnage’) as yet to occur.

In the end, it did not end up being a successful night for Imperium as the match result was not in their favor.

While Chad Gable had Giovanni Vinci in an ankle lock in an attempt to make him tap out, Ciampa put GUNTHER in a hold, forcing him to watch his protégé tap out to Gable.
