Following the recent round of WWE releases, there’s reportedly been talk of bringing three particular names into IMPACT Wrestling.
Several WWE stars were released from their contracts on Thursday, September 21, 2023, nine days after the UFC/Endeavor merger to form TKO, with Matt Riddle being added the following day.
IMPACT Wrestling’s PCO was interviewed by Les Anti-Pods de la Lutte podcast and revealed talk of three names, saying:
“Of course it did. Already there were names mentioned by people close to the office.
“The names that were circulating were (Matt) Riddle, (Dolph) Ziggler and Mustafa Ali.
“These are the three names that supposedly Impact would try to sign.”
Booker T has recently addressed the release of Matt Riddle, noting that “you can get away with that kind of stuff only for so long.”
In the NXT No Mercy media call, Shawn Michaels spoke about the release of Mustafa Ali who had initially been booked to face Dominik Mysterio for the NXT North American Championship on the September 30 event.
Michaels, WWE’s Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative, would say “I’d be lying to you if I said it didn’t take us by surprise.”
AEW’s Shawn Spears and Austin Gunn were among the many stars who commented on Dolph Ziggler’s release with The Rock also noting Ziggler’s contribution to the company.
