SummerSlam is 6 days away and Kevin Owens has promised the world that there will be a new WWE Universal Champion on August 19. That person, in case it wasn’t obvious, is him.
At a recent WWE live event, the ‘Prizefighter’ took a moment to address Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, and Braun Strowman, stating that he will be a champion fans can be proud of. Whilst this would usually be passed off as mere overconfidence, your writer is inclined to believe – maybe it’s more of a wish – that Owens will hold the strap after SummerSlam goes off the air.

As it stands, Kevin is arguably the best WWE Universal Champion there’s been. Finn Balor’s reign never got started, Goldberg was a transitional champion, and Brock Lesnar, according to many, has made the title a joke by hardly ever defending the gold.
Whilst many have their own theories of what will transpire at the culmination of SummerSlam, including a much talked about Roman Reigns heel turn, Kevin Owens has been advertised to battle the ‘Big Dog’ at Hell in a Cell and what better catalyst for the match / feud than for the Canadian to beat Braun Strowman, cash-in the Money in the Bank contract on either Roman or Brock, and leave this year’s extravaganza on top of the mountain? He is, after all, the perfect choice for a Paul Heyman guy.
WrestleTalk would like your views on Kevin Owens leaving SummerSlam with the red strap. Is he the right choice? Would you prefer a Roman Reigns heel turn? Or maybe Brock Lesnar is your pick to continue the mammoth reign? You can chat with all your favorite writers on Twitter and Discord today.
