WWE Speed Champion Lexis King has highlighted his crossover run with TNA Wrestling as the start of his in-ring transformation.

The son of the late Brian Pillman, Lexis King officially joined WWE in the summer of 2023.

King has reached new heights on NXT TV in 2026, forming the Birthright faction with other multi-generation wrestlers, and winning the WWE Speed Championship.

Speaking with Tommy Dreamer on Busted Open After Dark, Lexis King stated that his run with TNA Wrestling in late-2025 got the ball rolling for his 2026 NXT stint.

Thanking Dreamer, King said:

“I’ve got to put you over before I go, bringing us over to TNA was sort of the start of this whole transformation for me.

“I started to find myself, and it bled its way over here to NXT. It couldn’t be a better ride, so thank you.”

While Lexis King did unsuccessfully challenge for Moose’s TNA X-Division Championship on the February 25, 2025 NXT episode, he started appearing at TNA Wrestling events later that year, alongside several other NXT stars as part of an invasion angle.

He notably competed in the Team NXT vs Team TNA Steel Cage match which aired on the December 18, 2025 iMPACT episode, teaming with Brooks Jensen, Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo, Tyriek Igwe and Tyson Dupont in a losing effort against Jeff Hardy, Mike Santana, Steve Maclin and Santino Marella.

As far as WWE is concerned, this is one of the benefits of crossover partnerships like the one they have with TNA. While allowing NXT talent to appear on TNA doesn’t massively boost their spotlight, it does give its stars experience working with different wrestlers, for a different promotion.

TNA Wrestling recently confirmed the departures of Steve Maclin and Myla Grace, click here to read more.
