‘He’ll Get Another Chance I’m Sure’ – Former WWE Champion On Matt Riddle’s Release WWE

WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam has reacted to the company’s decision to release Matt Riddle on September 22, 2023.

Riddle announced his departure from WWE on social media, which came one day after the company had released multiple other talents including Dolph Ziggler.

A WWE higher-up had  reportedly stated that Riddle “burned through too many chances” in comments made after his release following multiple controversies that arose during his time in WWE.

In the wake of Riddle’s release, Booker T commented that “you can get away with that kind of stuff only for so long”.

Van Dam recently spoke about Riddle’s release and discussed his first meeting with the former WWE star on his 1 of a Kind podcast, saying:

“I met Matt Riddle at the Playboy Mansion at a party years ago after the Ultimate Fighter.

“This was a Medical Marijuana Policy Project fundraiser, which they used to have annually at the Playboy Mansion, and then eventually Hugh quit having parties at the mansion from outsiders and then it just went all downhill after that, but that’s where I had met him so a lot of people think that’s a pretty cool story and he seems to not be able to stay out of trouble.

“He’ll get another chance I’m sure, but I feel like he got so many chances that they felt like they’re not going to be taken seriously unless some consequences are shown.

“I think they’ll be temporary and that could be by the Universe, not necessarily by the company, but he’ll definitely go somewhere productive from here and hopefully he’ll quit sending d**k pics or whatever it is that he’s doing on his off time that gives him so much heat.”

In a now-deleted Instagram post shared on September 10, Matt Riddle had claimed that a Port Authority police officer sexually assaulted him at the JFK International airport in New York.

At the time, TMZ reported that Riddle’s comments sparked an investigation within the Port Authority Police Department.

TMZ also reported that, per law enforcement sources, Port Authority officers got a call for a ‘disorderly person’ who was deplaning, and Riddle was reportedly this ‘disorderly person’.

Video footage was recently released by TMZ showing Riddle at the airport on September 9.

According to Dave Meltzer, there has been interest in Riddle from a “number of companies in both pro wrestling and MMA.”

Since his release, Riddle has announced he’s launching his own weed strain called Riddle OG.
