Possible Spoiler On US Title Invitational Tournament Winner

A potential spoiler has emerged on plans for an upcoming US Championship feud, ahead of the finals of the US Title Invitational tournament.

Over the past few weeks, matches have been held in a tournament to determine the next challenger for Austin Theory’s US Championship.

The finals will be an all-LWO event, with Rey Mysterio set to take on Santos Escobar on the July 28 edition of SmackDown.

There has been a lot of speculation about this final. While some are expecting WWE legend Rey Mysterio to walk away with the W, others have predicted that Santos Escobar will finally defeat his mentor to officially earn a title shot.

The line-up for Saturday’s (July 22) house show in Mexico City, Mexico may have just revealed WWE’s plans for the next US Title feud.

At the event, Santos Escobar challenged for Austin Theory’s US Title in front of his home-country crowd, but ultimately came up shot.

As WWE has previously used the house show circuit to test out rivalries before bringing them to TV, this bout could indicate that WWE is planning to have Escobar continue his rivalry with Austin Theory on TV, fuelling speculation that Escobar will win the US Title Invitational.

Escobar is heading into the final with a lot of momentum after pinning champion Austin Theory on the July 21 SmackDown episode.

Rey Mysterio was also on the card, competing in the main event against Roman Reigns for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship.

Mysterio was ultimately defeated, following interference from Dominik Mysterio.
