AEW
Ticket sales for AEW’s new show Collision have been described as ‘really, really bad’ following the announcement of the brand.
Last Wednesday (May 17) AEW Collision was officially announced at the Warner Bros Discovery TV Upfront presentation.
More information about the show was shared on that night’s edition of Dynamite, with Tony Khan confirming the dates of several upcoming Collision tapings.
Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, current ticket sale figures aren’t a good sign for the new brand.
Meltzer noted:
“I’ll tell you what, they don’t have a big buzz for Collision. Because they put three shows on sale – they put Toronto on sale, they put Hamilton on sale, and they put Newark on sale.
“Newark has about 3,500 tickets out, which is… you would want more, I wouldn’t call it a disaster or anything. But for the New York market, it would be the weakest first day since they’ve been going there.
“Toronto was like 1,600, and that’s the day before the pay-per-view (Forbidden Door) that sold out instantly and Toronto is a great market.
“And I heard from some people in Toronto that the publicity of it, the fact that nobody knew till Wednesday and then it kind of sprung up on them as far as the thing and everything, but all that, that’s not good.
“And Hamilton, where they’re going on a Thursday, that’s sold in the under 600 range. So really, really bad advances, which is not a good sign for the excitement.
“People aren’t talking about it. The names that were announced and everything like that, it’s not enough.”

There’s currently a lot of uncertainty surrounding CM Punk’s status for the show. Following previous reports that Punk would return during the show’s debut episode at the United Center in Chicago, things look to have fallen apart again, as Punk and AEW are in disagreement over the future of Ace Steel.
With Steel reportedly rehired by AEW months ago, it was decided that he won’t be allowed to actually attend AEW shows in person backstage.
CM Punk wants Steel to be able to be backstage at Collision tapings, and both Punk and Steel were reportedly under the impression that would be happening, hence the falling out.
Punk has not been featured on any promotional material for Collision, and AEW has yet to announce the location for the June 17 debut episode.
That announcement will take place this Wednesday, and whether or not the originally planned location of the United Center in Chicago is confirmed for the debut episode will be a big sign as to whether Punk and AEW have managed to reconcile since a week ago.
