Ric Flair Discusses WWE’s Reaction To His AEW Signing AEW

Two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has discussed WWE’s reaction to his signing with All Elite Wrestling.

On the October 25 edition of AEW Dynamite, two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair made his debut for the promotion as a special gift for Sting from Tony Khan.

A few weeks later, All Elite Wrestling announced that Flair had been signed to a multi-year deal with the company.

The Nature Boy has been absent from WWE programming since he was released by the company in 2021.

Speaking to Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay, Sharpe mentioned how the NFL brings back legendary players to honor at the Super Bowl and asked if WWE would do the same for him at WrestleMania.

After mentioning that WWE does honor legends and his current ties to the business, Flair said:

“I think some people are upset with me now that I went to work at AEW. I don’t know why.”

“If you’re acknowledging, and you think I’ve contributed to the business, and I know I have because I hear it every day, you would think they would let me do whatever I want to do.”

“As long as it doesn’t affect them. I’m not going to get on TV and say ‘AEW is better,’ I’m not doing something stupid. I’m just working.”

“That’s all I know how to do. They’re mad. Not mad, but they did something…I’ll tell you off camera.”

After Sharpe brought up Flair’s mainstream fame being referenced in songs, Flair replied:

“You know the old saying, ‘you want to hear someone is doing good, but not too good.’? That make sense?”

Flair’s “Woooo” is still part of WWE’s signature open. Meanwhile, his daughter Charlotte Flair will team with Bianca Belair, Shotzi and Becky Lynch to face Damage CTRL in the Women’s War Games match at WWE Survivor Series this Saturday.
