AEW star Saraya has praised Mercedes Varnado (fka WWE’s Sasha Banks) for taking her career into her own hands.
While she has been training, Varnado hasn’t wrestled since before she and Naomi walked out on WWE in March 2022.
Varnado is now a free agent, able to take wrestling bookings outside WWE.
Speaking with Metro.co.uk, Saraya noted that Varnado deserves to be a main event star, noting:
‘I love the fact that she took her career into her own hands, and she knows her worth and she knows she wants to be treated a certain way, and she deserves to be treated that way because she’s done a lot for the wrestling business.
‘She’s one of the girls that puts butts in seats, and you want to see wrestle and you wanna see main event. She deserves all those things.’
Varnado is currently in Japan, following reports that she will make an appearance at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4.
The CEO of Bushiroad, NJPW and STARDOM’s parent company, recently addressed rumors about this reported appearance.
Following previous speculation that Varnado will join AEW, Saraya commented on the possibility of a Varnado AEW debut.
