Stephanie Vaquer has revealed that her WWE entrance theme change due to “many issues”, trusting that fans can understand why it happened.

Earlier this year, Stephanie Vaquer appeared on WWE Raw with a new entrance theme, having previously used “Bury Me”, which had been heard in NXT and on the main roster.

On a recent episode of Insight With Chris Van Vliet, Vaquer addressed the change to her current theme “La Primera”, saying:

“I like it. I love my old song. But, you know, many issues, so we need a new song. I just hope people can understand that.”

Vaquer wouldn’t specify the nature of the “many issues” in question, although did note that she is still making changes to her entrance and trying out new things.

“La Primera” was released on April 13, with many fans commenting on the YouTube video that they prefer the original theme.

Making An Entrance

The entrance theme is something that defines a star regardless of where they compete, from the smallest promotion to the big stages of WWE and AEW.

While independent wrestlers may use recognizable songs to make their way to the ring, stars in WWE are more likely to use something specifically crafted for their character. There are exceptions, of course, with CM Punk coming out to Living Colour’s Cult of Personality as just one example, but typically an entrance theme is written for the star.

WWE stars have seen their entrance theme changed, and there’s occasionally a less-than-favorable reaction from the very fans who are hearing that music for the first time.

The Usos, as a recent example, saw new music, only to have it changed again this week, having previously come out to Jey Uso’s solo theme, despite having a tag team theme of their own, what with them having been a team for quite some time.

There’s an argument to be made that the feel of WWE music has been somewhat homogenized thanks to a reliance on CFO$ and def rebel over past years, but the challenge of introducing something new to replace a beloved sound is a monumental one. It isn’t until the track is played within the context of a live audience that a true assessment can be made of whether a new theme works or not.

Perhaps, in the case of Vaquer, the “many issues” can be worked out. If not, fans can expect to hear her new theme until the time comes to change it once again, then the discourse will likely be renewed.
