Backstage Name Publicly Responds To Claims The Rock’s WWE SmackDown Segment Caused Issues WWE

A backstage name has responded to claims that The Rock’s opening ‘Rock Concert’ segment on SmackDown caused issues behind the scenes.

Following previous reports of The Rock’s recent WWE appearances going over their scheduled time, rumors had been circulating online of this again being the case on this week’s SmackDown from Memphis, TN (March 15).

These rumors had suggested that Rock’s segment overran, leading to cuts being made to other matches later in the show. Nothing had been explicitly reported confirming these rumors to be true.

In response to this, former WWE Head Writer Brian Gewirtz – who is now reportedly involved in The Rock’s WWE creative process going forward, replied to these claims by shutting them down entirely.

According to Gewirtz, the segment did not go over time – in fact it actually went under its allotted 20 minutes.

Gewirtz wrote on Twitter:

The segment went 30 seconds under its allotted 20 minutes.

As well as rumors regarding the time related issues caused by the segment, it has also been claimed that it also rubbed some WWE talent the wrong way backstage, due to Rock’s colorful language.

While this cannot yet be confirmed, Rock claimed that his language in the promo led to some backlash with WWE’s network partners.
