Top AEW Star Discusses Edge Potentially Joining The Company AEW

A top AEW star has discussed Edge potentially joining the company.

On the August 18 edition of SmackDown, WWE celebrated Edge’s 25th anniversary of his main roster debut. In the main event, “The Rated R Superstar” defeated Sheamus in a first time ever matchup.

Edge, real name Adam Copeland, revealed that this was the final match on his WWE contract that was set to expire at the end of September. While he has yet to make his next move known, a prevalent rumour has been that he will join AEW.

One AEW star Copeland is familiar with from his time in WWE is his former tag team partner Chris Jericho.

Speaking with Josh Martinez on the Superstar Crossover podcast, Jericho commented on the possibility of Edge joining All Elite Wrestling. Comparing Edge’s current status to his own when he left WWE, Jericho said:

“Well, I mean, who’s to say for sure? But if you look at Chris Jericho, for example, where I was in WWE, there really wasn’t much more that I could do there.

“You’re there for for many years, and you’ve wrestled everybody, and it’s great. But it’s always good to shock people, and to show up with a new kind of mission.

“So I think somebody like Edge, you know, there’s a lot of guys over [in WWE] like this. They’ve kind of done everything they can do there.

“For him to come to AEW with a whole fresh new coat of paint, a whole new roster of matches that he can have, obviously a new name, which would then, knowing him, knowing me, what I would do is a whole new look—a whole new mindset.

“That’s the best thing about having AEW and about us being as successful as we are, is that there’s now a viable alternative, I don’t wanna say, competitor, because it’s not that, but you can now go to either company.”

Edge recently responded to the reports of him potentially joining All Elite Wrestling, which you can read at this link.

Edge’s real life best friend and arguably greatest tag team partner Christian Cage is currently on the AEW roster and is the self-proclaimed co-TNT Champion with Luchasaurus.

Cage recently reacted to the possibility of his former tag team partner joining the promotion, which you can read here.
