Vince McMahon and WWE have now both issued statements on the federal investigation into allegations against McMahon.
As previously reported, WWE confirmed in its quarterly report filed to the SEC on Wednesday (August 2) that a search warrant was executed on its Executive Chairman Vince McMahon.
The search warrant was executed on July 17 and resulted in no charges.
It was noted in WWE’s report that the company has received ‘voluntary and compulsory legal demands for documents, including from federal law enforcement and regulatory agencies, concerning the investigation and related subject matters.’ You can read WWE’s comments from the quarterly report right here.
McMahon and WWE have now both issued statements on the situation to CNBC.
Continuing to deny intentional wrongdoing, Vince McMahon’s statement reads:
“I have always denied any intentional wrongdoing and continue to do so.
“I am confident that the government’s investigation will be resolved without any findings of wrongdoing.”
WWE told CNBC noted that it believes that the the subpoena and search warrant are: “a continuation of the investigation that commenced last summer.
WWE’s statement continued:
“WWE has cooperated throughout and fully understands and respects the government’s need for a complete process.”
John Pollock of POST Wrestling now reports that Vince McMahon issued an internal statement on the matter to WWE employees this morning.
That statement was as follows:
In 2022, WWE formed a special committee to review allegations of misconduct against me.
That review was concluded in November 2022 following an extensive investigation. Throughout this experience, I have always denied any intentional wrongdoing and continue to do so.
I am confident that the government’s investigation will be resolved without any findings of wrongdoing.
I am focused on completing the recovery process from my recent spinal surgery and on closing our transaction with Endeavor, which will create one of the preeminent global sports and entertainment brands.
In another area of the initial WWE quarterly report, WWE confirmed that McMahon has been on “medical leave” since July 21 after undergoing “major spinal surgery” and will remain on leave until further notice.
He will remain the company’s Executive Chairman during that time.
