WWE Hall Of Famer Slams Tony Khan Over Jinder Mahal Comments

WWE Hall Of Famer Slams Tony Khan Over Jinder Mahal Comments WWE/AEW

Bully Ray has slammed AEW owner Tony Khan over his recent tweet focusing on Jinder Mahal and WWE’s booking.

Mahal was a trending topic on Twitter in the wake of Khan’s post of January 9 in which he called out the “double standards” over the booking of Mahal in a title shot for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship compared to HOOK.

Responses to Khan came aplenty from fans and wrestlers alike, with Mahal posting and deleting a comment in the wake of the furore.

On a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray expressed his criticism of Tony Khan’s outburst, saying:

“What good did it do? Nothing. Zero.

“You are allowing people to get to you.

“You are showing the world that social media is bothering you because he had to have read this HOOK outrage somewhere.

“Maybe a million people directly tweeted Tony Khan about the HOOK outrage and that’s what he responded to.”

Co-host David LaGreca would present an alternative path for Khan to have taken, suggesting:

“If that was bothering you and that was the case, couldn’t you just tweet out ‘Hey, fans, HOOK is 28-1. If anyone deserves a championship opportunity now, it’s HOOK. Look at what he’s done in the last six months on Dynamite, Rampage and Collision. I’m looking forward to seeing his match. Yadda, yadda, yadda’?

“Wouldn’t that have been a better way to respond than bringing in something else?”

Bully Ray would react to this suggestion, going on to say:

“If a million people tweeted at you and you felt the absolute necessity to pick up your phone and engage, that’s exactly what I would have said back.”

HOOK will be facing Samoa Joe for the AEW World Championship on the January 17 episode of Dynamite, with Samoa Joe setting a ‘protocol’ for challengers during his reign.

The Modern Day Maharaja would go on to discuss the popularity given to him due to the AEW CEO on WWE’s The Bump.

Mahal will face Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the January 15 episode of WWE Raw.
