Popular Star Defends Roman Reigns’ Lack Of WWE Title Defences WWE

GUNTHER has shared his honest thoughts on Roman Reigns’ lack of WWE Undisputed Universal Championship defences this year.

Fans often compare GUNTHER’s 529 day Intercontinental Title reign with Roman’s 1178 day stint with the Universal Championship, as both stars are making history with lengthy reigns.

The two stars’ level of activity is completely different however, with GUNTHER regularly defending his IC gold.

Reigns, on the other hand, has only had five televised WWE Undisputed Universal Championship matches this year.

Speaking with Justin Barrasso for Sports Illustrated’s FanNation, GUNTHER argued that he doesn’t think Reigns needs to defend his title regularly as he’s a special attraction.

Stating that he doesn’t compare himself to the Tribal Chief, GUNTHER noted:

“Roman is in a completely different category. He’s been champion for so long.

“Obviously, he’s not defending the title that often, but at this stage of the title run, he doesn’t need to.

“It should only happen a few times of the year, very special occasions.

“I’m in a completely different story establishing myself.

“That’s something the other two don’t need to do, and I’m working to enhance the legacy of the Intercontinental championship.”

GUNTHER has also shared his thoughts on Seth Rollins’ World Heavyweight Championship run, admitting that Rollins is in a ‘very difficult situation‘.

The Ring General will defend his Intercontinental Title against The Miz at Saturday’s Survivor Series premium live event.
