An NXT star that was confirmed for the 2024 WWE Draft may end up sticking around a little longer after all if tonight was an indication.
Tonight’s night one of WWE NXT Spring Breakin’ started with an NXT Women’s Championship three-way match.
With Roxanne Perez forced to defend against both Lyra Valkyria and Tatum Paxley, the odds were stacked against the champ.
Despite previously announcing her intentions to join Raw or SmackDown in the upcoming WWE Draft, Roxanne Perez retained.
However, it’s entirely possible that a current NXT champion could be called up to the main roster while still holding their title.
In 2023, Indi Hartwell was the NXT Women’s Champion when drafted to the main roster, although she did actually vacate due to injury, and the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions at the time, Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn, were called up as well.
Elsewhere on tonight’s show, there were surprise appearances as the Creed Brothers returned along with Ivy Nile to feature in a backstage interview segment noting they couldn’t miss the big title match in the show’s main event.
Ilja Dragunov will look to defend his NXT World Championship against Trick Williams with the stipulation that if Williams loses, he is banished from NXT.
